Reserved. Cold. Stoic. Unmoving. A block of ice. That is what Queen Elsa would have everyone believe she is. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Since Elsa was a child, she’s lived in fear of herself; more specifically, her power to command ice and snow. This power has been tied intimately with her emotions from the start, as her father always told her, “Conceal it, don’t feel it, don’t let it show”. All was fine and well until she accidentally sent a shard of ice at her sister, nearly killing her. From then on, Elsa has been struggling with herself and her growing ability.

So she hides, she hides behind the gloves, and an air of detached regality. She hides behind doors and a lack of communication. She hides because she fears herself, as she has been taught to ever since she hit her sister with that freezing curse.

Elsa is slow to warm up to the idea of romance. Even if she is kind to a character, that doesn't mean she's ready to initiate anything. I generally have her somewhere between "uninterested" and "kinda sorta maybe". Of course I bend this heavily in memes and museboxes, but I'd prefer something with build up. Though we don't necessarily have to play it all out. If you're unsure, send me a PM. We'll work it out. I am also a-okay with playing out smut with Elsa. I consider her more on the asexual spectrum. Considering her issues with panic and anxiety related to touch and intimacy... she's not an easy sell. However if she forms a strong emotional attachment to your character (positive or even more on the antagonistic side) she will generally have a much easier time considering sexual intimacy as a possibility.

It is much easier for Elsa to become intimate with someone once she has an emotional connection with them. But if she honestly does care for them deeply, that may also send off more worries about hurting them with her touch. If her emotions go in the opposite direction and she really doesn't care for them, then it's actually easier for her to touch them because "Ehhhh" who cares if someone you don't like gets a little frost bite. I don't consider her demisexual, seeing as she can find people attractive with out an emotional connection. The fact that she'd identify more with being asexual is related more to the trauma of her powers and what happened with her sister.

About the Elsanna elephant in the room. I don't mind dabbling in it, or joking about it. However, my Elsa will never initiate it. She has far too much guilt wrapped around what she did to her sister when she was younger to try anything that would hurt her again. So Anna would have to be the instigator-- however Elsa probably won't let anything get too far beyond curious touches. Elsa has the ability to bend ice and snow to her will.... sort of. It's a work in progress, mainly because of the unique bent on the power. Which is that they are controlled primarily through her emotions.

There is no canon given information as to the origin to her power. Granted Once Upon a Time had touched upon this, but given Once Upon a Time's history for not being-- entirely faithful to the source material(So much so that they got Elsa's mother's name wrong), I choose to ignore it in favor of the bits and pieces given through interviews and background source material.

But really, where did her magic come from? Now, the trolls in the movie are awfully connected with the magic-- according to my sources (which I cannot verify because it is in some interview I have lost so I will mark the following as headcanon until I can rightfully say that this is canon) the Trolls and the original founding royalty of Arendelle struck up a deal. The trolls desired to stay hidden, so as long as the royalty kept them on the down-low, they would gift the family with a power. This power would only manifest when great tragedy was about to befall the kingdom. That great tragedy did not occur until Elsa and Anna were born and their parents were foreseen to die early; thus Elsa, the next in line to the throne, was gifted with the power to bring 'peace and prosperity'. The reason none of this is spoken of, is because the prophecy and the deal that was struck was so old, everyone forgot about it and lost the original recordings of it. Which is why the King can be seen reading ancient text which looks nothing like any language resembling Norwegian or the like. And while these powers would be an awesome thing for any normal person, unfortunately Elsa almost kills her sister. At this point the Trolls say that her power could destroy her and her kingdom if fear was a ruling factor. Never mind the extended version of that prophecy. However, all this is just background noise, no one outside of Elsa seems to be aware of the trolls warning, considering she is the only one left alive who witnessed the event and understood what was going on. Furthermore, no one knows why she has her powers anyway, so this won't be affecting how I play her.

The other biggest connection between Elsa's powers and the trolls would be the fact that the trolls understand how to counter Elsa's magic and slow it's progress. They keep Anna alive the first time she is hit with a bolt of ice to the head, and know how to reverse all ill-effects when she's hit in the heart. The elder troll also recognizes Elsa's magic both times he sees it immediately. Thus I think it could be very well argued that the Trolls are connected in some way to Elsa's powers that isn't explained in the movie.
